Disney's Reopening: What Will it Look Like?
Updated: Jul 10
Things at Disney are cautiously starting to open and after Disney Shanghai opened Monday, May 11, we can piece together what a post-COVID Disney trip may look like.
Here's a round-up of what we currently expect:
Face Masks - both guest and cast members will be required to wear face masks while inside the parks and likely at Disney Springs, as well. Disney has released their own like of character-inspired masks, see them HERE.
Low Capacity - for 'Phase 1' Disney Parks will be operating at up to half-capacity, and Phase 2 up to 75%. How this may be managed is still yet to be disclosed. Dated tickets for Shanghai Disney were released and sold out within hours but Disney World and Disneyland operate differently. Speculations have been made to the possibility that only those with on-site Disney resort reservations will be allowed into parks, but this is only speculation at this point.
Temperature Checks - All staff will be required to undergo temperature checks at the beginning of each shift. Guests will also have their temperature taken digitally before entering the park.
Liberal use of Sanitizer Stations - Located at the exit of each attraction will be a station for guests to easily and touch-free sanitize their hands. In addition, cast members will be wiping down all surfaces often throughout the day.
Limited restaurant seating - At Disney Shanghai we know they have removed some tables or removed the chairs so there is more space between each table in dining establishments. Other precautions like disposable menus, digital orders, and limited interaction with servers will also likely be seen.
While Disney is sure to be different, they're working hard to bring the magic back to you as soon as it's safely possible!
