Around the World Christmas Books for Kids

Every year since my kids were toddlers we have shared our favorite advent book tradition. I wrap up 24-holiday books - from Christmas classics to Biblical, each night of December leading up to Christmas we open one and snuggle up while reading.

Now age 11, my oldest daughter is still just as excited now as she was at age 2, and greets the books like long lost literary friends.

Out of all the books unwrapped each year, some of our very favorites are those that tell of holiday traditions from all over the world. Learning about how other kids celebrate their Christmas is surprising super interesting to my kids of all ages.

Here are a few of our absolute favorite 'Christmas Around the World' children's books!

Meg's notes:

My kid's absolute favorite - learn about how children get ready for Santa's visit by learning about their Christmas traditions and discover new tasty treats from around the world. The delicious recipes are included which makes for a really fun activity!

From Amazon:

"A World of Cookies for Santa takes readers across the globe to see all the treats that await Santa on Christmas Eve. Head to the Philippines, where children leave out puto seko cookies and ginger tea for Santa; jet to Russia for a honey-spice cookie; then set out for Malawi for a sweet potato cookie! When you've returned home, the journey's still not over—M. E. Furman provides recipes for children to bake some of Santa's cookies for themselves.

A World of Cookies for Santa is a multicultural celebration that families will return to year after year. Winner of the American Book Fest Best Book Award and the Moonbeam Book Award!"

Meg's notes:

What kid (or adult!) doesn't love a lift-the-flap book? This bright and heavy duty book takes you on a walk through different countries and cultures during the holiday season. Lift the flaps to learn hundreds of facts about Christmas traditions from around the world.

From Penguin Random House:

"A book. An Advent calendar. A perfect Christmas gift.

Let’s take a stroll around the world,

to all four corners of the globe.

Peek through windows, open doors,

watch as Christmastime unfolds . . .

A collection of global cultures, Walk This World at Christmastime illustrates the ways people around the world celebrate Christmas. Travel to a new set of countries with every turn of the page. Lift the numbered flaps for all the fun of an Advent calendar in a format to be read again and again."

Meg's notes:

Perfect for your preschool - 2nd grade kids, this simple picture book is short and sweet describing the Night Before Christmas for children in different countries around the world.

If you have a favorite Christmas book highlighting the tradition around the world, I'd love to know! We're always adding to our holiday book collection. And I encourage you to snuggle up and give the gift of stories to your children this holiday season. ❤️
